Jamaica Travel Tips

Jamaica is a fun places to be. The exotic atmosphere, the sun and the people make it a wonderful place to spend an enjoyable vacation. Before embarking on any vacation, there are lots of things to consider in preparation for a memorable time.

This guide is intended to give you a basis understanding of what to do before going and while in Jamaica.

While this guide is not the end all to ensuring a good time in Jamaica, it is certainly a good place to start in your quest for getting out to a good start on your fun filled vacation

  1. Documentation: A passport is all that's required for your
travel to Jamaica. It's best to secure your passport well in
advance of your visit to Jamaica. Even in emergency cases, it
takes at least two weeks to have a passport in hand. The earlier
you file for your passport the happier you'll be in the end.

  2. Rent-A-Dread: It is quite popular to see young or even
middle age white woman accompanied by Rastafarian though out
the island. These dreads make a reasonable salary of showing
single women the travel in Jamaica. As always exert caution
when being approached by anyone who is unfamiliar.

  3. Drinking: There are a number of alcoholic beverages
to the enjoyed while in Jamaica. The most popular of these being
Red Stripe Beer. I've been told that it's one of the best on
the island. This is followed closely by one of Holland's favorite,
Heineken Beer and the bitter tasting Guinness Stout. While these
beverages are readily available, it should be noted that the
drinking age in Jamaica is 21 and any deviation from this could
mean a night in a bed that's less than comfortable.

  4. Medical Attention: It's best to pack all needed medications
before leaving for your vacation. Pharmacies are located though
out the island, but it's best to take enough to last the entire
trip. Medical attention is readily available in most resort
areas. Be sure to ask your host about provision for medical
attention upon arriving at your resort. Sometimes, it's best
to even ask these types of questions before you even board the
    plane.

  5. Cost of Living: Like most islands, Jamaica is very expensive
in terms of transport, food and touring. In some cases, it might
be best to purchase an all-inclusive package, which helps to
minimize some of these unforeseen as well as those excepted
    expensive.
